Eating Like a Cavewoman?

Cavelady Cooking

Listen to the Complaining Tummy

You’re probably wondering what the heck would ever make me want to eat like a cavewoman…

Well, this might be the answer to many unexplainable stomach problems that have been haunting my daily diet from the second I started college.

Ever feel like everything you eat makes you sick? Are you constantly worried about emergency bathroom runs? (I AM…and I’m so not afraid to say so!) Has your doctor run a million tests and found…nothing? Well, I feel ya. This can be a very frustrating process, especially when you start to realize that foods you’re obsessed with are the cause of the tummy rumbles.

The Paleo Diet

As I was falling asleep last night, I got a message from my dad with a list of websites full of Paleo recipes. When I first read the message, I thought he had spelled something wrong because I had never heard of “Paleo foods”.

“What is he talking about??” I wondered.

Well according to some Paleo diet experts, this could be the answer to my stomach issues!

This diet concentrates on staying true to your roots…and I mean very ancient roots (cavemen style). As U.S. News puts it, “if they cavemen didn’t eat it, you shouldn’t either”. Sound crazy? It’s actually not that bad! Basically, say bye bye to:

  1. Refined sugar
  2. Dairy
  3. Legumes
  4. Grains

And say hello to:

  1. Meat
  2. Fish
  3. Poultry
  4. Fruits
  5. Veggies

Entering a New Food World

I have only recently started to manipulate my diet due to my inability to digest dairy products (my all-time favorites). So this Paleo concept is totally new to me! But I am willing to give it a go…anything to cure the Mini tummy! Wanna join?

Here are some websites with all sorts of Paleo recipes and tips:

Whether you want to improve unknown stomach problems, loose weight, sleep better, etc…you should join me on this new path.

Let me know if you have any yummy Paleo recipes for me to try!

Love always,

    Hi Mini,
I am the one that actually typed the message on your dad’s phone. You didn’t think Del came up with that one by himself did you? ;o)
    What I recommend:
Don’t be afraid of fat, eggs, bacon, coconut oil (highly recommended for EVERYTHING, including cooking your meats) cream and butter – includes ghee (they do not have lactose, but have good fats). Try as much as possible to source pastured fed and pastured finished beef, pork, chickens, etc – also all their product (i.e. eggs, butter, etc)
Send me an email if you want/ need more, or follow me @jdthorsell (I follow a lot of Paleo people).
I hope Paleo works for you, actually I know it will work for you, and be forewarned, once you go Paleo you won’t go back!
